Special Education Services

Sophie offers educational consulting services to caregivers navigating the complexities of the special education process in public school districts. Recognizing that this process can be emotionally charged and overwhelming for parents and guardians, Sophie provides clarity and step-by-step guidance. Parents want to support their children in meeting their individualized needs but often require assistance in becoming effective advocates. Sophie offers invaluable support in IEP (
Individualized Education Program) development, utilizing evidence-based methods, and facilitates discussions regarding services and placement options to ensure the best possible educational outcomes for every child.

  • Equip families with the strategic tools necessary to actively engage in the collaborative development of their child's IEP with school-based special education Teams

  • Assist with the new IEP format (mandatory starting in 2024)

  • Review proposed IEPs and provide recommendations to school-based Teams

  • Draft rejection letters

~Knowledge, experience, and strong collaboration skills are the essential qualities of an effective advocate. School districts will willingly engage with advocates with these qualities. As a result, students get what they need without damaging the relationship between the schools and the caregivers.

I had the pleasure of working with Sophie in public school in Waltham. She is an extremely hard worker, is caring and compassionate with a great sense of humor. She would be an excellent and effective advocate having the unique experience as a parent, teacher, and administrator. I would highly recommend Sophie. She is amazing! ~Rob

Sophie served as a resource room teacher, co-teacher, and evaluation team leader in our elementary school when I was the principal. Sophie is exceptional. She is student-centered, thoughtful and detail-oriented, and builds strong relationships with kids, families, and other educators. She has a deep understanding of both grade level expectations and of accommodations and modifications that support students to reach their full potential. Our students on IEPs thrived under Sophie's care and leadership. I would recommend her support to anyone needing help with navigating the IEP process without hesitation. ~Emma

Sophie was incredible to work with when it came to helping my daughter with her learning challenges. She understands the special education system from inside and out. She helped me navigate it better and made things a lot less stressful for me.

She helped me understand my daughter's needs and IEP and gave me advice on what was best for her. I couldn't have done it without her. If you're looking for someone to help you navigate the special education process, Miss P is the best to have in your corner! Anne
